Every year, thousands of snakes are killed out of fear.
But what if they are not the enemy?

On the island of Bali, where ancient traditions honor snakes as sacred, modern life is disrupting a fragile balance. Rapid tourism and habitat loss are bringing humans and snakes into increasing conflict, often with deadly consequences for both.
This documentary tells the story of the people working on the front lines to change this.

These conservationists risk their lives to safely relocate snakes, educate communities, and prove that coexistence is possible. They are challenging centuries of fear with knowledge, compassion, and action, turning what many see as a threat into an opportunity for balance.
For thousands of years, snakes have lived between myth and reality. Some cultures revere them as gods, while others fear them as evil. Beyond these beliefs lies a deeper truth. They are essential to the ecosystems we all depend on.

This film will take you into Bali’s temples, jungles, and communities to uncover that truth and to show what happens when humans choose understanding over fear.

This is an independently produced film, driven by a personal commitment to tell this story with honesty and care, working directly alongside local conservationists and communities in Bali.

We are raising funds to bring this story to life.

I'm a Hungarian director driven by lifelong passion for nature conservation. With a degree in Ecology, I've studied ecosystems and wildlife for years – but my camera became my true voice to protect them.

My Journey Through Award-Winning Nature Films

Four Faces of Indonesia (2019) – Immersive journey through the archipelago's cultures and landscapes I called home during filming
Carnivorous Plants (2017) – Nature's deadliest beauty revealed, from Venus flytraps to tropical pitcher plants
Nature isn't my subject – it's my obsession. I bring scientific rigor and cinematic heart to every project, whether filming giant snakes or remote ecosystems.

Why "Snakes in Paradise" Is Personal

I've spent more than one and a half years living in Bali. I know the language, understand the culture, and have access to places and people that tourists can never reach. Because of this, I've captured stunning footage across this vibrant island and conducted exclusive interviews with people who risk their lives daily to rescue snakes and other animals.

These misunderstood creatures face incredibly hard times. I need your help to share their urgent story with the world.

I've delivered award-winning films before. With your support, we'll bring this one to festivals worldwide.

A massive and peaceful Reticulated Python

This reticulated python is one of the largest specimens I have ever seen. Luckily, I didn't just get to see it; I also got to experience firsthand the incredible power it possesses. This experience will help me better articulate my thoughts about these creatures in the film!

Halfway through filming, I took a step back to see how the film's narrative arc is shaping up. This is a crucial part of the creative process; if neglected, the core message can easily lose its way. It is always worth pausing for a moment to see if everything is progressing as planned—or perhaps even better—and if not, to identify what needs to change.

To do this, I usually select stills from various scenes and arrange them side-by-side to visualize the sequence. This helps me determine which scenes are currently the strongest and which ones need more supporting footage to truly land.

"Filming has kicked off in Bali!

Last week, I interviewed Rai, the 'King of Cobras.' Of course, we talked about his favorite animals—the cobras—and the many other rescued species that call his sanctuary home."

Buddha and the Seven Cobras

Buddha and the Seven Cobras

According to legend, when Buddha sat down to meditate, seven cobras rose above him, intertwining their hoods to shield him from the rain and the sun. In the film, we also want to reflect on the place snakes hold in history and religion. This is why I traveled to North Bali to a Buddhist monastery—to capture this wonderful work of art.
